A unified regulation for the temporary accommodation and social integration of persons without a permanent place of residence has been approved in Uzbekistan. In specialized institutions, these citizens will be provided with temporary housing, medical support, and assistance with document restoration and job searching.
This government decree came into effect on August 18. Citizens can voluntarily apply to the specified centers, or information about them can be passed through the mahalla, internal affairs bodies, or other authorized structures.
In the centers, service recipients will be provided with necessary living conditions, undergo medical examinations, and treatment will be organized if problems arise. Additionally, they will receive assistance with applying for pensions and benefits, restoring documents, finding relatives, and employment. In some cases, help with obtaining housing is also provided.
After settling in, data about the individual will be entered into relevant information systems, and the center's staff will create a personal social adaptation plan for them. The initial stay period is set for up to twenty days, but it can be extended if necessary.
Staff will monitor the progress of the adaptation process and determine who is responsible for implementing the established measures. The goal of the new procedure is to ensure comprehensive support for people without a permanent home and facilitate their return to self-sufficient life.
Previously, it was announced that Uzbekistan was preparing a new set of measures aimed at developing the social protection system. Plans include expanding access to education for children with disabilities, changing the approach to supporting the homeless and victims of human trafficking, and digitizing transport benefits.
