Indian Government Announces Retesting for Three Subjects of UGC-NET Exam

The central government of India informed the Delhi High Court on Wednesday that a re-examination will be organized for three disciplines of the UGC-NET competition, which took place in June 2026. Sociology is among these subjects. This decision was made following the receipt of complaints regarding errors in the test materials.

Judge Jasmeet Singh considered a petition filed by a candidate who took the sociology exam. This candidate demanded a suspension of result announcements until an independent investigation and re-examination were conducted amid allegations of material leaks and question errors.

Solicitor General Tushar Mehta informed the Delhi High Court that the exams for English Language and Commerce will take place on September 9, and for Sociology on September 10. He also noted that this decision satisfies the student's claims.

Previously, the National Testing Agency (NTA) published a public notice acknowledging receipt of numerous complaints about various errors in the questions of the three disciplines and formed a special committee to study the situation.
