Samsung's line of affordable mobile phones is about to receive a new addition in Brazil: the Galaxy A08 4G, according to information obtained firsthand by Tecnoblog. This smartphone, identified by the code SM-A085M/DS, received Anatel certification last Monday, the 17th.
If projections are confirmed, the device should be positioned in the price range below R$ 1,000. The issued certificate does not point to major changes compared to the Galaxy A07 4G, except for the increase in battery capacity.
The main novelty of the Galaxy A08 4G lies in its battery, whose component (code LC-196XW) has a nominal capacity of 5,830 mAh, implying it will be marketed with 6,000 mAh typical. This battery is produced by Sunwoda in China and also by three companies located in the Manaus Industrial Pole.
Although the capacity increase in entry-level devices is not unprecedented—manufacturers like Xiaomi, Realme, and Tecno have been exploring this trend, especially using silicon-carbon anode technology—Samsung maintains the use of more traditional lithium-ion technology, even offering products with 6,000 mAh, such as the A07 5G.
Anatel documents did not indicate advancements beyond the battery; the model retains the 15W charger with a USB-A port in the packaging, maintains 4G, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth, and FM radio connectivity, but does not include NFC. As usual, the device manufacturing should take place in Manaus, Campinas, Vietnam, or Korea.
It is expected that the specifications of the new model will be essentially identical to those of the current Galaxy A07 4G, featuring a MediaTek Helio G99 SoC, a 720p screen (likely LCD), and up to 8 GB of RAM. Some model details were found on the Google Play Console, according to the website 91mobiles.
In the Brazilian market, Samsung usually offers the following configurations for the A0x series models: 4 GB with 128 GB and 8 GB with 256 GB.
