The Competition Commission of Uzbekistan issued a warning to enterprises regarding the unjustified increase in prices for school uniforms, textbooks, stationery, and other products sold at seasonal school fairs before the start of the new academic year.
According to the Competition Commission, such markets have opened across the country in general education schools, farmers' markets, and shopping complexes.
The Committee reminded sellers of the need to comply with legislative norms, ensure product quality, and provide consumers with complete information about them. Specifically, the price and manufacturer details must be indicated directly on the product or at the point of sale.
Consumers are advised to check the quality of school supplies and compare prices before purchasing. The Competition Commission monitors prices at school fairs, and citizens can report unjustified price increases via the unified hotline 1159.
In the new academic year, over 795,000 children will enter school for the first time. Each first-grader is provided with a 'President's Gift,' which includes a set of 12 school supplies.
