A shocking incident occurred in the village of Gogi, which is part of the Shahpur taluk in the Yadgir district of Karnataka: a father threw his young children into a canal amid family disagreements. This incident caused a strong resonance throughout the region.
According to information received from the police, Santappa is the suspect. Conflicts often arose between Santappa and his wife Renuka over property disputes. A heated argument occurred between the couple on the day of the incident.
In a fit of rage, Santappa put all three children on his motorcycle and left home. He drove to a nearby canal and pushed his nine-year-old daughter Sanvi and two-year-old son Srijan into the water. During this terrible act, his youngest daughter, six-year-old Sanjana, was also with Santappa.
When Sanjana saw her brother and sister being thrown into the canal, she became frightened. Little Sanjana grabbed her father's legs and, crying, begged him to spare her. She told him not to kill her and clung to him. Seeing this innocent plea from his daughter, the suspect's heart softened, and he spared Sanjana, safely taking her back to Yadgir.
After arriving in Yadgir, Santappa himself called the police on the emergency number 112. He informed the police officers that he had thrown his children into the canal. The call after committing such a serious crime surprised the police. Upon receiving the information, law enforcement agencies immediately took action and dispatched their team to the scene.
The Head of Police of Yadgir (SP) Prithvi Shankar provided full details about this case. He specified that the incident took place in an area under the jurisdiction of the Gogi police station. SP Prithvi Shankar reported that by the time the message was received, it was already dark, making a search and rescue operation with the fire and rescue team at night impossible. Therefore, the search for the missing children in the canal began the following morning around six o'clock.
The police continue efforts to find nine-year-old Sanvi and two-year-old Srijan. The police stated that once the children's bodies are found, a criminal case will be filed against the suspect on charges of murder, and strict legal measures will be taken.
Initial police investigation indicated that the suspect Santappa was under some mental strain. During interrogation, it was revealed that both children were more attached to their mother than to their father. The suspect stated that his bond with these children was not as strong.
Currently, the police are making every possible effort to locate the children quickly. Law enforcement agencies emphasized that further legal proceedings will be concluded after the children are found.
