Mahindra has introduced an updated version of its powerful SUV, the XEV 9S. Previously, this model was available in a seven-seater configuration, but the company has now launched a six-seater variant. For this, the second rows are equipped with 'captain's seat' style seats.
With this move, Mahindra has filled a gap in the market previously occupied by the Kia Carens Clavis EV, which was the only vehicle in this segment offering both six and seven passenger configurations. The new six-seater Mahindra XEV 9S is available in the Pack Two Above, Pack Three, and Pack Three Above trims.
The price for the six-seater Mahindra XEV 9S starts from 25.25 lakh rupees for the car including all charges. The cost of the different versions is: Pack Two Above with a 79 kWh battery at 26.15 lakh rupees; Pack Three with a 70 kWh battery at 28.05 lakh rupees; and Pack Three Above with a 79 kWh battery will cost 30.15 lakh rupees.
In addition to installing captain's seats in the second row, Mahindra has not made significant changes to the XEV 9S interior. The seats retain their original design but are now equipped with individual armrests that can be folded to create more space, which facilitates access to the third row.
The space created between the captain's seats simplifies boarding the rear seat. Thanks to the new seats, passengers in the third row will have more legroom, increasing their comfort. Like the seven-seater version, this version also includes rear air conditioning vents and two 65W charging ports.
The six-seater Mahindra XEV 9S is available in all trims except the entry-level Pack One Above. The car offers options with 79 kWh and 70 kWh batteries. All models are equipped with a single rear electric motor. This motor generates a torque of 380 Nm and a power of 286 hp, while lower trims have a power of 245 hp.
The claimed range for the 70 kWh battery version is 600 kilometers, while the version with the 79 kWh battery claims 679 kilometers.
