Leapmotor launches V2L adapter that allows vehicles to be transformed into 3,300 W outlets in Brazil

Leapmotor has begun commercializing in Brazil an adapter that enables its automobiles to be converted into a portable power source. This device, developed by Mopar, which is the accessories division of Stellantis, operates using V2L (Vehicle-to-Load) technology, utilizing energy stored in the traction battery to supply various external electrical appliances. The product is already available at the brand's dealerships throughout the country.

The usage process is simple: just connect the adapter to the vehicle's power interface and plug the desired equipment into the accessory outlet, which automatically activates the function. The system provides single-phase alternating current electricity at 230 V, with a frequency between 50 and 60 Hz, capable of delivering up to 3,300 W and 15 A. According to manufacturer information, this capacity is sufficient to power everything from smaller devices, such as cell phones, laptops, Wi-Fi modems, projectors, and sound systems, to higher-consumption home appliances, such as refrigerators, hair dryers, or electric stoves.

It is essential to pay attention to the output voltage, as the adapter operates at 230 V. Appliances designed exclusively for 110 V or 127 V, which is the predominant residential standard in much of Brazil, will require a transformer suitable for the equipment's power to be used.

To protect the battery pack, power supply is automatically suspended when the charge reaches 20% or when the driver sets a specific level through the multimedia center. Leapmotor also warns that the system has restrictions regarding time, consumption, and discharge, and may interrupt the supply if it detects any condition outside the established parameters.

The automaker reported that the accessory underwent rigorous performance tests focused on Latin America. These tests covered different consumption levels, temperature variations, operational interruptions, and deformations in various types of outlets. A technical report confirmed stable operation under the tested conditions, even when exposed directly to sunlight. The company advises keeping the vehicle in a ventilated and safe environment and prohibits contact between the adapter and water or moisture.

There are specific versions of the adapter to meet the main regional standards: Type N in Brazil, Type I in Argentina, Type F in Chile, and Type B in Colombia. The brand also advises consumers never to use damaged equipment, equipment without a clear power rating, extensions that are not within specifications, or improvised adapters.

This adapter is compatible with all models marketed by Leapmotor in the country, including the B10 and C10 electric models, as well as the C10 ultra-hybrid, which uses REEV technology, where the combustion engine serves only as a generator to recharge the battery. It is important to note that this functionality is not exclusive to the Chinese brand; competitors such as BYD, GWM, and Geely already offer similar features in their electrified vehicles sold in Brazil, some of which are integrated directly into the vehicle.

The launch of this accessory accompanies the inclusion of rubber mats in the brand's accessory catalog. The accessory portfolio already includes other items such as anti-theft wheel bolts, wallboxes, organizing boxes, volumetric alarms, and portable chargers. Customers have the option to include these items and service contracts in the vehicle financing, limited to 10% of the financed value, applying the same interest rate as the car, at partner dealerships. Leapmotor, however, did not disclose the cost of the adapter.
