Farmers' strike at Kanauri border concluded; talks with government scheduled for September 4

The protest action by farmers at the Kanauri border in the states of Punjab and Haryana, which lasted for the last four days, has been stopped. Farmers' leader Jagjit Singh Dalwal announced the cancellation of the action on the fourth day.

Under pressure from the resolute stance of the farmers, the central government invited them to negotiations scheduled for September 4. The farmers viewed this invitation as a significant victory.

The farmers' warning about holding a demonstration in semi-nude form was canceled after receiving an invitation to dialogue from the government. Jagjit Singh Dalwal emphasized that this is only an intermediate stage, and the fight is not over.

After the government proposed negotiations, the farmers began returning home from the Kanauri border. Dalwal reported that the meeting on September 4 will involve discussions on important issues with the participation of the Ministry of Agriculture and high-ranking officials of the central government.

The farmers specified that the next strategy will be announced based on the results of the September 4 meeting. Nevertheless, the wave of all-India farmers' mahapanchayats will continue in protest against trade agreements and other agricultural problems.

Previously, the farmers had announced a march to Delhi. However, they subsequently decided not to block roads but instead to sit peacefully in place, stating that they were preparing for this from their homes and would remain at the Kanauri border until August 28. Now, however, their demonstration has ended.

Farmers decide to remain at the Kanauri border until August 28 after talks with Haryana administration

The leader of the farmers' movement, Jagjit Singh Dalwal, made an important statement regarding the farmers' protests. He provided details of the negotiations with the Haryana administration, clarifying that the farmers are currently remaining at the Kanauri border.

Initially, the farmers planned to arrive in Delhi by August 28. However, they have now decided to continue their action specifically at the Kanauri border.

Dalwal explained that the farmers arrived prepared for the period leading up to August 28, so they will conduct demonstrations continuously here. Furthermore, the farmers stated that they will not block roads but will peacefully express their disagreement by sitting in place.

According to the farmers' leaders, their main goal is the cancellation of a potential 'trade deal' between India and the USA. The farmers want to engage in direct negotiations with the central government on this issue. Dalwal noted that the farmers are ready to meet with officials or ministers of the central government related to the Ministry of Agriculture.

Previously, negotiations took place between the Haryana administration and the farmers' leaders regarding a trip to Delhi. The administration demanded that the number of farmers heading to Delhi be reduced to below 51 people. In response, the farmers' organizations offered to send a group of 41 people. Nevertheless, the administration did not agree even to the figure of 41.

Due to the lack of agreement, the farmers' leaders decided to remain peacefully at the Kanauri border until August 28, abandoning the march to Delhi.
