A longitudinal analysis of data covering nearly seven thousand people over the age of 65 revealed certain patterns regarding weight and mortality risk.
According to the results, men with excess weight or suffering from first and second-degree obesity had a lower risk of death compared to men with normal weight. However, a high waist circumference was associated with an increased probability of a fatal outcome.
Similar trends were also found among women. The data from this study were officially published in the scientific journal Journal of the American Geriatrics Society.
