President Shavkat Mirziyoyev announced that Uzbekistan intends to open a logistics center with a capacity of 500,000 tons in the Georgian port of Poti in 2027. Additionally, practical implementation of the project will begin at the Anaklia port.
Development of transport infrastructure
In addition to facilities in Georgia, the construction of large transport and logistics centers is planned in locations such as Alat, Termez, Yangiyul, Akhangaran, and Khanabad. However, the construction timelines and financial costs for these domestic projects have not yet been determined.
New tax and customs measures are being introduced to support the transport and logistics sector in Uzbekistan. Customs duties and processing fees for importing trucks have been abolished.
Furthermore, a zero VAT rate will be established for international cargo transportation when providing railway wagons. It is expected that the development of transport and logistics infrastructure will expand international communication opportunities and support business activities in this sector.
