Zerodha Co-founder Nikhil Kamath invests ₹200 crore in CtrlS funding round of ₹250 crore

Nikhil Kamath, co-founder of Zerodha, has invested ₹200 crore in the funding round of CtrlS, a company that operates hyperscale data centers in India. His investment was supplemented by a contribution of ₹50 crore from entrepreneur Sriram Reddy Vangi.

The capital raised will be used by CtrlS to expand its infrastructure and increase capacity to meet the growing demand from enterprises and hyperscalers across India, especially amid the acceleration of cloud, digital, and artificial intelligence workloads.

CtrlS Datacenters was founded in 2007 by Sridhar Pinnapureddy and manages 19 data centers in nine key regions of India. The company's total capacity exceeds 370 MW, with projects at various stages of implementation totaling 4.4 GW.

According to the statement, this investment demonstrates increasing investor confidence in India's potential in digital infrastructure, artificial intelligence, and cloud technologies. Furthermore, it underscores CtrlS' strategic position in India's rapidly evolving digital infrastructure ecosystem.

Nikhil Kamath noted that 'every significant technological shift of the next decade, whether it is AI, cloud technologies, or digital government infrastructure, relies on data centers. India is at an inflection point where the basic infrastructure either keeps pace with the rate of development or becomes a bottleneck. CtrlS spent years building a level of depth that cannot be assembled overnight. That's what made the decision easy.'

CtrlS provides its services to various clients, including enterprises, cloud providers, financial institutions, and government organizations.

Sriram Reddy Vangi, an investor and entrepreneur, stated: 'I am pleased with the alignment of long-term vision in this partnership. It allows us to think bigger, act faster, and continue building data center platforms that will support the next phase of India's growth. Having known Sridhar for many years, I have immense respect for his vision, perseverance, and the institution he has built.'

Sridhar Pinnapureddy, founder and CEO of CtrlS Datacenters, added: 'I am inspired by what unites us in this partnership. It allows us to think more globally, move faster, and continue building data center platforms that will support the next phase of India's growth.'
