A parliamentary commission has issued a recommendation to reduce the gap between the procurement price and the retail price (MRP) to improve the accessibility of medicines and medical equipment.
According to a report from New Delhi, the commission suggested that the difference between the price at which a medicine or medical device enters the market and its MRP should not exceed 20%. This proposal is based on identifying significant price discrepancies that could lead to increased out-of-pocket expenses for patients.
