Tazmin Brits aims for revenge against India after World Cup defeat

Following a disappointing exit from the T20 World Cup, Proteas team batter Tazmin Brits has focused her attention on intensive training, participation in the CPL tournament, and upcoming home matches against India.

Although the Women's T20 World Cup may seem like a distant memory to many, Tazmin Brits admitted that she had been dwelling too long on her team's bitter semi-final elimination.

In an exclusive interview with IOL, Brits stated: 'Besides watching videos multiple times to understand what I could have done differently, we only had one week off [after that].'

South Africa's campaign ended in a loss to England by 40 runs in the second semi-final at The Oval stadium in London on July 2.

Although Brits did not play in the official match since then, her schedule has remained extremely busy. The Proteas Women team continues to train, and the main focus is now on the Champions Trophy in February.

The first scheduled event for Proteas Women is a five-match T20I series against Zimbabwe in September, but Brits has decided to skip this tour to participate in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL).

After completing her franchise duties, all attention will shift to the national team for the home series against India in December. The tournament will begin with a Test match in Gqeberha on December 9, followed by three ODI matches and three T20Is.

'I am very excited, especially when it comes to India,' Brits said. 'As you know, billions of people watch, and we always feel there is something unfinished between us. I am happy to host them on our home ground this time—it will be a huge challenge.'
