Results of second-stage exam re-evaluations postponed to September

According to the approved calendar of national exams and tests, the results of re-evaluations were supposed to be announced on August 28. However, issues that arose during the digital assessment process significantly increased the workload of specialists.

The Minister of Education, Fernando Alexandre, announced last week the need to postpone these dates. The government emphasized that this change will not affect the ability to enter higher education, as the tests are only used when applying for the second stage, which concludes on September 20.

Problems discovered during the digital assessment of first-stage exams forced the later publication of scores for 9th-grade and secondary education tests. These difficulties also led to a threefold increase in requests for review of secondary education grades and the opening of a special examination period.

This additional examination period in early September requires involving a larger number of workers 'during a period that coincides with the vacation of most grading teachers and administrative staff,' according to the Deputy Secretary of State for Education, Alexandre Homem Cristo.

Homem Cristo noted in the relevant decree that 'the increased volume of tasks for evaluation and re-evaluation concentrated in a short period,' adding that 'this situation created more organizational pressure and substantially reduced the available periods for marking and rest for all involved individuals, which required bringing the re-evaluation calendar into compliance with the exceptional reality of the current academic year.'

Scores for 9th-grade tests will be known on September 9, and the results of the national exams on September 14.
