Media9Par's administration announced that João Marcelino will return to Jornal Económico in the role of director. This announcement was made today, and it elects Ricardo Santos Ferreira and Lígia Simões as deputy directors, as detailed in an internal communication obtained by Lusa.
Ricardo Santos Ferreira had been temporarily assuming the responsibilities of editorial director of the publication this month, following the departure of André Macedo from the position. The administration formally requested an opinion from the Editorial Board of Jornal Económico (JE) regarding the new composition of the editorial board, which includes João Marcelino as director, and Ricardo Santos Ferreira and Lígia Simões as deputy directors.
The communication sent to employees informed that the new editorial board will begin its activities on September 1, 2026. Regarding João Marcelino, the administration emphasized that this is a return, given that he had previously worked at Jornal Económico between 2018 and 2022, initially as an external collaborator and later as a senior writer.
Additionally, it was communicated that José Carlos Lourinho will also take on the role of executive editor starting September 1. He will assist the editorial board with coordination and execution tasks.
