Flexential secures $800 million loan to expand data center capacities

Flexential has secured a $800 million credit line to accelerate the development of its data centers. This funding is targeted at markets experiencing strong client growth and increasing demand for infrastructure. The funds will allow the company to increase its total capacity by over 130 MW within its national platform.

This financial support provides Flexential with guaranteed capital for projects moving from planning to construction, while also offering greater flexibility regarding future development timelines. The company's strategy is to prepare infrastructure before clients begin demanding additional capacity.

Flexential operates 40 data centers across 18 well-connected US markets. Its FlexAnywhere platform offers colocation, cloud technologies, interconnection, and data protection services. This platform functions through a private backbone network with a capacity exceeding 100 Gbps.

Several projects are already under construction within the Flexential network. These include a 36 MW facility in Douglasville, Georgia. Another 36 MW facility is being built in Hillsboro, Oregon. Additionally, the company is developing a 22.5 MW facility in Parker, Colorado. Another 36 MW facility is planned for Hillsboro, and a 4.5 MW expansion is planned near existing operations in Northcross, Atlanta.

Collectively, these projects will add over 130 MW of capacity. These projects will serve enterprise clients and growing workloads associated with artificial intelligence. They also give Flexential the ability to respond to changing client demands.

Ryan Mallory, CEO of Flexential, noted that clients plan their infrastructure needs years in advance. He emphasized that this financing allows the company to invest before such demand arises. This approach can help clients secure necessary capacity, density, and connectivity on time.

The $800 million credit line was repriced due to high demand from lenders, exceeding the initial target of $500 million by 60%. Eleven digital infrastructure banks supported the financing. TD Securities acted as the administrative agent and coordinating lead arranger. RBC Capital Markets and J.P. Morgan also participated as coordinating lead arrangers. Goldman Sachs, ING, SMBC, Bank of America, and KeyBanc joined as lead arrangers.

Flagstar, Citibank, and Investec served as co-documentary agents. Flexential's sponsors, GI Partners and MSIP, will continue to provide equity investments. Thus, the financing supplements existing sponsor support with debt capital.

This deal demonstrates the continued availability of capital for digital infrastructure. As cloud adoption grows and AI develops, the demand for data centers increases. Consequently, operators are expanding capacity in markets with good connectivity and power availability.

AI workloads create new requirements for high-density computing infrastructures, and enterprise clients need scalable facilities to support expanding digital operations. Flexential's development plan is focused on these evolving needs.

The company's infrastructure focuses on ensuring security, compliance, and resilience. Services provided include colocation, cloud connectivity, and professional support. These capabilities allow clients to manage complex computing tasks through a single platform.

The new credit line gives Flexential additional resources to continue expanding. The company can now move projects forward while maintaining flexibility within its broader development portfolio. The company expects these investments to support clients as infrastructure requirements evolve. The financing also strengthens Flexential's ability to react quickly to future demand, as growing capacity becomes increasingly vital amid the pressure that AI workloads place on data center infrastructure. The company will continue to develop its national presence around these capabilities.
