The authorities of Tashkent are developing a concept for renovating the Yangiabad market. According to a statement from the Tashkent city administration, the project's goal is to improve the territory and conditions for traders and visitors while completely preserving the existing format and specialization of the market.
City authorities emphasized that the modernization of Yangiabad will not change its character or turn it into another type of trading venue. The main task is to create a safer, more convenient, and comfortable environment for everyone who works at or visits the market.
Planned improvements include landscaping the territory, ensuring proper sanitary standards and necessary safety measures, updating infrastructure, as well as creating convenient pedestrian paths and parking areas.
Traders currently operating in Yangiabad will retain their trading spots. It is also planned to preserve the recognizable atmosphere and specificity of the market.
The concept is being developed by the city in collaboration with designers. The city administration noted the importance of considering the opinions of people for whom the market holds practical significance when preparing the project.
After the concept is developed, it will be presented for public discussion. Residents will be able to review the proposed changes, ask questions, express their opinions, and submit suggestions.
