Iran and Belarus plan to expand agricultural cooperation

The Deputy Minister of Agriculture of Iran for Planning and Economy met with the Minister of Agriculture and Food of Belarus to emphasize the need to develop bilateral interaction in the fields of agricultural fertilizers, mechanical engineering, and joint investments.

Expansion of Agricultural Cooperation between Iran and Belarus

According to Mehr News Agency, Akbar Fati, Deputy Minister of Agriculture of Iran for Planning and Economy, held talks with Yuriy Gorlov, Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Belarus. This meeting took place during the seventh session of the Council on Agricultural and Industrial Policy of the Eurasian Economic Union, which was held in Almaty, Kazakhstan.

During the meeting, the parties reviewed the potential and directions for strengthening agrarian and economic partnership between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Republic of Belarus. Both sides emphasized the importance of strengthening bilateral ties and utilizing available resources to develop trade and investment in agriculture.

Cooperation in the Supply of Potassium and Phosphate Fertilizers

One of the key areas of discussion was the continuation and deepening of cooperation between the two countries in the supply and trade of potassium and phosphate fertilizers. Opportunities to expand trade interaction were studied, and areas for joint investment in the production and supply of agro-industrial raw materials were considered.

The Iranian side, pointing to the critical importance of stable provision of the agricultural sector with necessary resources, emphasized the use of the capacities of the EAEU member states to diversify supply sources and build long-term partnerships.

Furthermore, the potential for joint cooperation in the field of agricultural machinery and equipment was discussed. The parties agreed to identify the production capabilities of companies and private sector activists from both countries to promote technology exchange, technology transfer, and joint investments in this area.

Expansion of Trade in Agricultural and Food Products

Another subject of discussion was the intensification of trade turnover between Iran and Belarus in the segment of agricultural and food products. Within this issue, existing opportunities to increase exchanges in categories such as poultry meat, dairy products, and various fruits were analyzed.

The necessity of simplifying trade procedures and creating favorable conditions for a more active presence of producers and exporters from both countries in each other's markets was stressed. The issue of developing trade relations and using existing agreements and mechanisms to increase the volume of agricultural product exchange was also considered.

Emphasis on Joint Investments and Deepening Agrarian Ties

At the end of the meeting, both sides expressed readiness to continue consultations and monitor the implementation of the issues raised. The goal is to develop joint investment projects, increase agricultural trade, strengthen cooperation in the field of raw materials and machinery, and create new opportunities for private sector interaction.

The meeting took place within the framework of the seventh Council on Agricultural and Industrial Policy of the Eurasian Economic Union programs and corresponded to the strategy of strengthening the agrarian diplomacy of the Islamic Republic of Iran and developing economic contacts with the member states of this union.
