Startup accelerator Y Combinator conducted a transaction to sell nearly 1.2 percent of its stake in Billionbrains Garage Ventures, the parent company of Groww, on the open market on Tuesday. The total value of the deal amounted to 1435 crore rupees.
Through its affiliated company, YC Holdings II, LLC, the American Y Combinator sold 74,687,500 shares, corresponding to a 1.19 percent stake in Bengaluru-based Groww. Data on the major transaction was obtained from the BSE exchange.
The share sale was executed at an average price of 192.16 rupees per share, resulting in a total transaction value of 1435.19 crore rupees. Following this latest deal, YC Holdings II LLC's stake in the brokerage firm decreased from 8.63 percent to 7.44 percent.
Information regarding the buyers of Billionbrains Garage Ventures shares on the exchange was not disclosed. It is worth noting that previously, in May, Y Combinator had sold a 1.45 percent stake in Billionbrains Garage Ventures for 1642 crore rupees through a similar open market transaction.
The financial performance of the companies also shows growth. Billionbrains Garage Ventures reported a 94 percent increase in net profit to 735 crore rupees for the quarter ending June 30, 2026. In the comparable period a year earlier, the Bengaluru broker's net profit was 378 crore rupees.
Groww, which is the largest brokerage firm in the country by number of active investors, reported a 66 percent increase in consolidated operating revenue, reaching 1501 crore rupees in the first quarter of fiscal year 27, compared to 904 crore rupees a year earlier.
