The Tamil Nadu government, led by Chief Minister Vijay, has announced an expansion of rights for women working in the state's public sector. Employees will now be entitled to 365 days of maternity leave upon the birth of a third child.
This decision equates the maternity leave conditions for the third child to those provided for the first two children. Previously, female civil servants with fewer than two living children could claim one year of maternity leave.
