July proved to be a successful month for Bajaj, as total sales volume grew by 19%. The company delivered 165,747 two-wheeled vehicles in July. Compared to last year, 139,279 two-wheeled vehicles were sold in July of the previous year. Furthermore, looking at June, the company sold 166,956 units, which represents a 1% decrease in sales compared to the previous month.
Although the company's portfolio includes many motorcycles, one scooter demonstrated the greatest success, becoming a nostalgic item for many people. This is about the Bajaj Chetak, whose sales in July this year increased by an impressive 307%.
Previously, the Bajaj Chetak was a popular scooter, but it gave way to automatic models like the Activa. In 2019, the company relaunched this scooter in the Indian market, but in an electric version, not in a gasoline version. Bajaj sees a clear advantage from this scooter.
In July, the company sold 47,184 units of this scooter. In July of last year, only 11,584 units were sold, indicating a 307% year-on-year growth in sales of this model. Additionally, compared to June, where 40,376 Chetak models were sold, sales in July grew by 17%.
The Bajaj Chetak is available in several configurations, and buyers can choose from three battery systems. Regarding operating costs, using the 3.5 kWh battery in the Chetak 35 series will cost approximately 35 rupees when charging at home, allowing for the claimed range of 153 kilometers for that amount.
