President Shavkat Mirziyoyev stated that increasing domestic production capacity and creating new jobs should reduce the need for Uzbeks to seek employment abroad. He presented new vectors of economic growth for various regions of the republic.
According to the president, maintaining high living standards for the population critically requires sustaining economic growth rates. As part of the plans for 2026, Uzbekistan aims to increase its gross domestic product to over $180 billion and export volume to $40 billion.
To achieve these ambitious goals, the authorities intend to support the expansion of entrepreneurs' businesses, helping them create high-paying jobs, increase the added value of products, and enter international markets.
Regional specialization will be the basis for new growth points
The president defined regional specialization as the foundation for the emergence of new growth centers. In Tashkent, the main focus will be on export-oriented business. The Andijan, Fergana, and Namangan regions are planned to develop the textile industry and mechanical engineering with a full production cycle.
Priority areas for Samarkand, Bukhara, and Khorezm regions are recognized as tourism, creative industries, and agro-industrial brands. In Navoi and Tashkent regions, metallurgy, mining, and chemical science are planned to be developed, while forming long chains of added value.
Similar chains in the agro-industrial complex and oil and gas chemistry will be formed in Kashkadarya and Surkhandarya regions. In Karakalpakstan, economic growth should be stimulated through 'green' energy, information technologies, and artificial intelligence.
Jizzakh and Syrdarya regions will focus on developing competitive clusters in the automotive industry, electrical engineering, and construction material production. The president emphasized that thanks to these measures, citizens will not need to go abroad, and entrepreneurs of New Uzbekistan will reach a new level of development.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev also noted the emergence of a new generation of entrepreneurs in the country, ready to implement innovations and scale their businesses. In conclusion, he assured that the state will continue to support entrepreneurs' initiatives and create the necessary conditions for their implementation.
