Paratus Rwanda marks one year of operation at the opening of the AfPIF 2026 forum in Kigali

Paratus Rwanda participated in the official opening reception of the African Forum on Peering and Interconnect (AfPIF) 2026 in Kigali. This event coincided with the operator's first anniversary in the country.

The XV AfPIF takes place from August 18 to 20 at the Kigali Marriott Hotel. The forum gathers representatives of internet service providers, network operators, carriers, internet exchanges, data center operators, technology companies, and policymakers from across the African continent and other regions.

At the forum, Paratus Rwanda showcases its connectivity services, including the Starlink for Business package and special Paratus Essential Access offers for basic needs, as well as its G2M fiber optic line.

Since starting operations in Rwanda last year, Paratus has expanded its services from Starlink business services to IP transit, wholesale internet, and regional fiber optic connectivity. The company's presence point in Kigali connects businesses and operators to the wider Paratus group network, which covers 16 African countries. The Rwandan operation is part of the group's East Africa network alongside Paratus Kenya, Paratus Uganda, and Paratus Tanzania.

The G2M line connects Goma in the Democratic Republic of Congo to Mombasa in Kenya via Kigali, Kampala, and Nairobi. This secure 2000 km corridor provides carriers, internet service providers, and corporate clients with cross-border bandwidth and access to international subsea cables arriving in Mombasa.

Infrastructure Development

Paratus Rwanda also offers Starlink-based connections as primary, backup, and remote links, including business internet and Level 2 channels that connect branches and remote sites to the head office.

The Country Manager of Paratus Rwanda, Innocent Mutimura, stated: 'As we approach our first anniversary, AfPIF allows us to demonstrate that Paratus Rwanda is an established, active, and ready provider to support local and regional business and operator needs.' He added that 'our presence point in Kigali, the G2M line, and Starlink-based services allow us to offer both terrestrial and satellite connectivity, backed by local expertise and coverage of the wider Paratus network.'

Representatives from Paratus Group, Paratus Rwanda, Paratus Kenya, and Paratus Uganda attended the forum. Mutimura emphasized that 'Rwanda is a growing digital market and an important part of our East Africa strategy.' He expressed hope to welcome the internet community in Kigali, establishing new contacts and showing how Paratus can meet local and regional connectivity requirements.

Paratus Rwanda is a subsidiary of Paratus Group, established to provide and install Starlink services in Rwanda.
