Marcelo Allende confirms his stay at Mamelodi Sundowns, hinting at the end of the season

Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Marcelo Allende denied rumors about his future, confirming that he remains with the club, although he also indicated that the upcoming season might be his last in Chloorkop.

The Chilean playmaker commented on the rumors on Monday afternoon during a press interaction before Sundowns' match in the Betway Premiership against Marumo Gallants, scheduled for Wednesday.

Allende, who joined the team from Brazil in 2022, emphasized that his focus is on Sundowns and stated that he has not been negotiating with potential suitors.

Nevertheless, his mention that this could be his 'last year' at the club reignited questions about his long-term plans. Allende stated: 'I am focused on my last year here, at the club. I haven't spoken to anyone. As I said, I am really focused, on all fronts.'

He also noted his readiness to play and always give his all, and in case of failure, support his teammates, as he believes this is most important for Sundowns to bring good results to the club.

The 26-year-old player has become an important figure for Sundowns since arriving from Chile, having played 74 matches and scored seven goals for the club. His technical skills and versatility have made him a valuable member of Miguel Cardoso's squad, although he faces increasing competition in a squad with significant depth.

Allende's time at Sundowns is already marked by major successes. Last season, he played a role in the team winning a second CAF Champions League title, adding another significant award to a memorable period in South Africa.

The midfielder also represented Chile at the U-17 and U-20 youth levels and has one experience playing for the senior national team. For now, Allende appears determined to sideline the rumors and concentrate on his duties at Sundowns. However, acknowledging that it might be his last season at the club, every appearance of his may take on added significance.

If this truly turns out to be his farewell match in Chloorkop, Allende hopes to leave on a high note, helping Sundowns conquer Africa last season.
