The Ministry of Health of Uzbekistan announced the expansion of bilateral cooperation between Uzbekistan and China in the field of ophthalmology. This cooperation includes joint surgical operations and the exchange of professional knowledge among specialists.

As part of the sixth stage of the 'Give Light and Kindness' initiative, medical personnel plan to restore vision for 150 patients. The opening ceremony took place at the Republican Specialized Scientific and Practical Medical Center of Eye Microsurgery. This initiative is being implemented with China's participation within the developing medical partnership between the two countries.
During the ceremony, Elmira Basitkhanova, advisor to the Minister of Health of Uzbekistan, presented Zhang Xiongping, head of the Chinese company Asia-Europe International Materials Trading Center, with the 'Excellent Healthcare Worker of the Republic of Uzbekistan' badge.
Since 2019, under the 'Belt and Road' initiative, cooperation with Chinese hospitals and companies has provided surgical assistance to over 4,000 socially vulnerable citizens of Uzbekistan suffering from cataracts.
The current partnership between Uzbek and Chinese ophthalmologists involves regular experience exchange regarding modern diagnostic and treatment methods, as well as conducting joint surgical interventions. The Ministry of Health of Uzbekistan has announced the release of a video report on this initiative in the near future.
