The new passenger terminal at Andijan International Airport is estimated to cost between 300 and 335 billion soms. Work on the project began in February 2026, with completion scheduled for the end of this year.
The director of Andijan Airport, Sohibjon Kenjaev, provided this information to journalists. The client for this project is Uzbekistan Airports. The contract for construction and installation works was signed on February 5, 2026, following a closed tender in which about six different companies participated.
Prime Tower was chosen as the general designer for the new terminal, and Marine Business Stroy was appointed as the general contractor. Airport representatives note that design and construction processes are being carried out simultaneously. Nevertheless, the final cost of the project has not yet been determined and may be adjusted after the acquisition of necessary equipment.
Characteristics of the new terminal and reconstruction
The planned terminal will be significantly larger than the existing one, with an area reaching 19.6 thousand square meters, compared to the current 2.4 thousand square meters. Passenger throughput is expected to increase from 200 to one thousand passengers per hour, and the estimated annual capacity of the airport after the project is implemented will be 1.1 million passengers.
According to Uzbekistan Airports data, the new terminal is 40% complete. Currently, work is underway on zoning the space on the first and second floors, and fireproofing is being applied.
This new terminal is part of a broader program to modernize the entire airport. Concurrently, airside infrastructure is being updated, which includes improving parking for large aircraft, runways, safety systems, and power supply.
Previously, there was information about plans to demolish the old Andijan Airport terminal after the new building comes into operation. On the site of the demolished facility, an administrative building and barracks for military personnel are planned to be built, while historical mosaics will be moved to the new terminal.
