According to the results of entrance exams at higher education institutions in Uzbekistan, the average passing score for applicants recommended for state grants reached 134.6 points. For enrollment on a contract basis, this indicator was 93.7 points.
Sardor Rajabov, Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, reported these figures on August 18 during a press conference held in Tashkent. He noted a noticeable increase in passing indicators compared to the previous academic year.
Last year, the average score for receiving a grant was 121.8 points, and for a contract basis—84.9 points. Consequently, over the past year, both indicators increased by 12.8 and 8.8 points, respectively. The Ministry explains this increase by the strengthening of competition among prospective students.
This year, 209.1 thousand applicants were recommended for bachelor's degree programs. Out of a total of 52.8 thousand people, places were secured through state grants, while the remaining 156.3 thousand were on contract terms. Additionally, 20.5 thousand applicants were recommended for enrollment according to special admission criteria for privileged categories.
Furthermore, state universities in Uzbekistan have begun publishing tuition fees for the differentiated contract for the 2026/2027 academic year. For example, at Termez State University, the cost depends on the specialty and can reach 90 million soms, while Namangan State Pedagogical Institute decided to maintain last year's tariffs.
