Meteorologists warn of rains and storms in various regions of India from August 18 to 23

The meteorological department forecasts heavy rains, storms, and hurricane winds in several parts of the country. Heavy precipitation is expected in Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Muzaffarabad from August 18 to 22. Similarly, heavy rains may be observed in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand from August 18 to 23.

In the capital, Delhi, heavy rains are predicted for August 21-22. Rainfall is expected in Punjab on August 18, while in Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi, it is expected from August 21 to 22. The probability of heavy and very heavy rains is also for August 21-22 in Western Uttar Pradesh.

More specifically, heavy rains are possible in Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Muzaffarabad from August 18 to 20. In Himachal Pradesh, this is expected from August 19 to 21, and in Eastern Uttar Pradesh, from August 20 to 21, with heavy rain forecasted in some areas.

Regarding Central India, rains are likely in Western Madhya Pradesh from August 17 to 21, in Eastern Madhya Pradesh from August 18 to 23, in Vidarbha from August 21 to 23, and in Chhattisgarh from August 18 to 23. Additionally, localized precipitation is possible in Western Madhya Pradesh from August 22 to 23, in Vidarbha from August 19 to 20, and in Chhattisgarh from August 20 to 21.

Due to the forecast of heavy rains, holidays were declared for schools from grades 1 to 12 in Prayagraj, Bhadohi, and Kaushambi on Tuesday.

Heavy rains are expected in some areas of Western Uttar Pradesh on August 18, and heavy or very heavy precipitation in Eastern Uttar Pradesh. According to forecasts, the intensity of rainfall in Western Uttar Pradesh will begin to decrease on August 19. However, heavy rain may persist in Eastern Uttar Pradesh until August 19.

The forecast for August 20 shows no weather warnings for Western and Eastern Uttar Pradesh, indicating a gradual weakening of rains after the widespread impact on August 17. Nevertheless, heavy rain may continue in Eastern Uttar Pradesh until August 19.

The Meteorological Department (IMD) has advised fishermen to stay away from the coast due to strong winds and adverse sea conditions. This warning applies to areas around the coasts of Somalia, Oman, and Gujarat in the Arabian Sea, as well as remote sea zones. There is also a risk of bad sea conditions near the coasts of West Bengal, Odisha, Bangladesh, and North Andhra Pradesh in the Bay of Bengal. Restrictions on marine activities in the affected areas may be in effect until August 19-20.

The Meteorological Department warns that heavy rains, thunderstorms, and gusty winds can cause various problems in vulnerable areas. This may lead to the toppling of small trees, damage to horticultural crops and weak structures, as well as landslides or ground waterlogging in some places. Flooding in low-lying urban areas is also possible.
