Photographs received from the village of Paniya in the Bayrasia district, Bhopal region, have cast doubt on the condition of government schools. On August 15th, Independence Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and patriotism across the country. Flag hoisting ceremonies were held in schools, children participated in cultural events, and they sang the national anthem. However, photos of children from Paniya village told a different story.
The pictures show schoolchildren reaching the school carrying the tricolor flag, walking along a muddy road. Due to the rain, the road to the school turned into solid mud. The young children walked this route, holding the flag and demonstrating patriotic enthusiasm, but the condition of the mud and the poor road raised questions.
When footage of the school building itself appeared, concerns intensified. The plaster in one of the school rooms was damaged and fell to the ground. A serious question arises about the safety of the children. If the building where children study daily is in such a state, who will be responsible in case of an accident?
Despite all the difficulties, the children's enthusiasm for Independence Day did not fade. The children came to the schoolyard with the tricolor, after which they collectively sang the national anthem 'Jana Gana Mana'. The children's patriotism was evident, but the poor condition of the school raised a serious issue amidst the celebration.
The question arises: when will children studying in rural areas be provided with decent conditions? Can a safe and firm path to school not be ensured? Should the dilapidated school building not be repaired in time? A safe classroom, a good path, and basic amenities are the primary needs of any school.
On the occasion of Independence Day, children from Paniya village demonstrated an example of patriotism despite the inconvenience of the muddy road. They reached the school and sang the national anthem. Nevertheless, these photographs raised several serious questions regarding the education system and the conditions provided to children in rural areas.
Regarding this matter, Bhopal collector Priyank Mishra stated: 'Send me the details of the school. I will check.' Now it remains to see what steps the responsible departments will take to improve the condition of the road to the school and the building itself upon seeing these photographs.
