After a long period of waiting, the final list of candidates for the Village Panchayat Officer (VPO) position from the 2023 competition has been announced. The Uttar Pradesh Staff Selection Commission (UPSSSC) released the final results for 1468 vacancies, which was a result of continuous coverage of the issue by the publication Aaj Tak.
Candidates who had been waiting for the completion of the hiring process felt relieved upon the announcement of the results. The selection process for the Village Panchayat Officer position was significantly delayed. After taking the exams, candidates continuously awaited the publication of the results, stating that the delay in completing the procedure affected their career progression.
The candidates repeatedly held protests regarding this matter. For instance, on July 21, 2026, a group of candidates visited the residence of Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Patak, demanding the prompt release of the results. Candidates regularly visited the UPSSSC office, and the publication Aaj Tak also consistently raised this issue. Now, the commission has released the final results.
UPSSSC announced the final results for 1468 Village Panchayat Officer positions under notification No. 01-Pariksha/2023. The commission also published the cut-off scores by category for the selected candidates. The cut-off score was 68.25 for Unreserved and OBC, and 65.75 for EWS. For the SC category, the threshold was set at 57.75, and for ST at 54.20.
In this result, 96 candidates were included preliminarily, meaning their selection depends on the completion of verification of certain necessary conditions or documents.
The main issue in this selection was the slowdown of the process. A significant amount of time was required to complete the subsequent stages of selection after the exam. Document verification proceeded in several stages. Since different candidate categories required separate verification, preparing the final list took time.
The process was also slowed down due to the verification of candidates under PH and sports quotas. A separate list was prepared for these candidates. The final merit list could only be formed after the verification of all documents was completed.
The publication of the results brought relief to the candidates who had been waiting for the completion of the hiring process for a long time. The final outcome of this procedure, which lasted about four years, is now presented. The candidates' demand was for the commission to complete the selection process as soon as possible. Now, with the release of the final results, an important stage of the hiring process is complete.
