According to data from the analytical firm Kpler, maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz decreased by 19.5 percent over the past week. Specifically, during the week starting August 10, 95 vessels were recorded passing through, whereas only three vessels passed on August 16.
Kpler reported on the social network X that vessels used the Iranian side of the strait or chose alternative routes, and no crossings through the Strait of Hormuz TSS or Omani routes were recorded.
Concurrently, there is an increase in the number of vessels using the Bab el-Mandeb Strait—another major waterway in the region. This indicator increased by 6.7 percent, reaching 254 vessels, despite the unstable security situation.
