Resilient Asset Management BV, a structure owned by Paytm founder Vijay Shekhar Sharma, has put forward a proposal to sell up to 4.98 percent of its stake in One 97 Communications. The proceeds are to go to the Chinese investor Antfin (Netherlands) Holding BV in accordance with an agreement concluded between the parties in 2023.
In a filing submitted to the stock exchange on Monday, the Noida-based company clarified that the fintech company is not a party to this deal, and Sharma's stake in the company remains unchanged.
As of June 2026, Sharma held 9.03 percent of Paytm shares, while Resilient's stake in the firm was 10.24 percent. On Monday, Paytm shares closed 1.31 percent lower at 1,583 rupees per share.
Previously, Resilient acquired about 10.20 percent of the equity in Paytm from Antfin in exchange for Optionally Convertible Debentures (OCDs) issued by Antfin in 2023. Under this agreement, any economic interest must belong to Antfin.
It should be noted that for acquiring this stake, the Sharma structure was not required to make any monetary payments, provide guarantees, or furnish any other collateral to Antfin. This 2023 agreement was made during a period when the company sought to reduce the influence of the Chinese investor on its board of directors.
Last August, the Ant Group exited Paytm completely. Last week, global broker Bernstein raised the target price for Paytm to 2,200 rupees per share. This marked the first time that the Noida-based fintech company received a target price higher than its debut price on the exchanges in November 2021. At the initial public offering, Paytm shares were sold at a price of 2,150 rupees per share.
