Dimension Energy has secured additional funding of $857 million to accelerate its expansion in the field of distributed solar energy. This financing consists of an increase in the corporate credit facility by $200 million and project financing of $657 million. With these new commitments, Dimension's total corporate credit facility reached $650 million.
The expansion of the corporate credit facility was led by Nuveen Energy Infrastructure Credit and funds managed by HPS Investment Partners. The additional liquidity will allow Dimension to move projects from the development stage to the construction stage, as well as provide greater flexibility as the company's portfolio grows.
Since its inception, the company has developed over 1 gigawatt of distributed energy assets and invested more than $2 billion in operational or under-construction projects. Partners Group owns Dimension Energy.
The $657 million financing, intended for the transition from construction to operation, will support 29 distributed solar energy projects. These projects have a combined capacity of 149 megawatts and are located in the states of Illinois, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and Virginia.
Advantage Capital acted as the tax equity investor for this portfolio. MUFG Bank, First Citizens Bank, ING Capital, and National Bank of Canada served as Coordinating Lead Arrangers, with Fifth Third Bank as the Joint Lead Arranger.
The secured funding provides Dimension with additional resources to execute projects in various US markets. Distributed solar energy also helps bring power generation closer to consumers, which assists in addressing growing energy demand and infrastructure challenges.
Dimension currently owns over 600 MW of operating or under-construction distributed energy assets. The company expects the new funding to support its expansion to 1 GW of operating assets by 2028.
This latest financing deal followed a $650 million portfolio financing completed earlier this year. The sequence of these transactions underscores investors' sustained interest in the company's distributed energy platform and provides capital for the growing project portfolio.
Rafael Dobrzinski, co-founder and CEO of Dimension Energy, stated that the new commitments demonstrate the strength of the company's platform. He noted that this financing will contribute to disciplined growth amid increasing demand for distributed energy.
Nuveen Energy Infrastructure Credit also highlighted the rise in electricity consumption. The firm emphasized that distributed solar energy can provide reliable power supply closer to where it is needed and anticipates that the technology will benefit from rising transmission and distribution costs.
Advantage Capital stated that Dimension has demonstrated the ability to move projects from the development stage through construction. The tax equity investments will support further project execution and help expand access to reliable and affordable electricity.
The new capital gives Dimension a greater opportunity to scale its solar portfolio. Its projects span several states where demand for distributed energy resources is growing. The company focuses on developing, owning, and operating infrastructure, not just generating projects.
Dimension's strategy also reflects the increasing role of distributed generation in the US energy market. Solar projects located closer to customers can complement the overall energy infrastructure and support communities facing increased electricity needs. The company's goal for 2028 represents a significant expansion compared to its current asset base.
