The personal health segment of Philips in India is demonstrating rapid growth, outpacing the overall market, and is expected to see its revenue exceed 100 billion rupees during the 2026-2027 fiscal year (FY27). The personal health segment market in India is growing at a rate of 6.5 percent.
Smith Shukla, head of Philips Personal Health for the Indian subcontinent, told Business Standard that India is considered one of the most important markets in the global ecosystem. He also emphasized that India is Philips' fastest-growing market for personal health this year.
According to Shukla, there is huge potential due to demographics and the influx of youth into this category, as personal health in India remains underdeveloped. He added that the beauty care business is growing two to three times faster than the market, the hair care business is growing slightly faster than the market, and mother and baby care is growing disproportionately faster.
Shukla noted that the company is in a unique phase where all its business drivers are operating at full capacity. Regarding revenue structure by channel, he reported that by the end of FY27, the share of quick commerce (qcom) will be 20 percent, compared to low single digits eighteen months ago. Philips India's revenue from online sales accounts for about 70-75 percent of total sales.
He continued that online remains the fastest-growing segment, and the company is rapidly developing in quick commerce, but this does not mean stagnation in modern retail; the company is strengthening its position there as well. Shukla concluded that although weights and growth rates are changing, the company is ahead of the market across the board.
The main driver in this segment for Philips is commitment to technological innovation. He explained that after the market became heavily brand-driven between 2021 and 2024, competitors focused their attention on white-label products and accessories. The company managed to revive interest in technology, and consumers began paying a premium for it. This allowed the company's products to perform well over the last 18-20 months, contributing to market growth or faster growth than the market itself.
Shukla also mentioned that in the 16 to 26 age group, the Philips Personal Health segment is gaining a disproportionately large market share thanks to products like OneBlade (Philips trimmer). Regarding future innovations, he stated that Philips will prioritize men's grooming and trimming, as well as releasing updated versions of OneBlade Intimate and new hair care products.
