Mahindra has introduced its new double-cab pickup truck named Lifestyler. This SUV is intended to elevate the Indian brand and challenge competitors such as the Toyota Hilux, Ford Ranger, and Isuzu D-Max.
Despite the name potentially sounding odd, the imposing appearance of the new model is likely to attract even more fans when it hits the local market, tentatively scheduled for 2027.
The presented model is a production version of the Mahindra's Global Pik Up concept, which was shown in 2023. The Lifestyler is built on the Scorpio-N platform.
The new Mahindra utilizes the same platform as the Scorpio-N SUV, but the external metal panels and front elements appear to be unique to this pickup.
Although Mahindra has not confirmed the full range of engines, it is widely expected that the Lifestyler will feature a 2.2-liter turbocharged mHawk diesel engine capable of producing 128.6 kW of power and 400 Nm of torque. The power can be transmitted to the rear axle or all four wheels via a six-speed automatic transmission. 4x4 versions will be equipped with Mahindra's 4XPLOR system, allowing for selectable off-road driving modes.
At the presentation event in India, Mahindra showcased three starting trims. The company aims to target established competitors in the pickup segment with the Lifestyler.
Trim Options
The Valley Edition, finished in Artemis Grey, is positioned as a blend of work and leisure functions, emphasizing comfort and practicality. The Reef Edition targets outdoor enthusiasts and features an Aquareef finish inspired by ocean hues. Meanwhile, the Trail Edition, painted in Sahara Beige, carries a more adventurous theme, highlighting the Lifestyler's off-road capabilities.
The interior of the new pickup includes a large vertical touchscreen, while retaining physical controls for the climate system. A fully digital instrument cluster is located in front of the driver.
Users are advised to follow further details about the new Mahindra Lifestyler as its launch approaches.
