Amid fluctuations in the stock market, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) shares demonstrated significant growth on Monday. The company's shares rose by 2.38% on the NSE, reaching a new 52-week high of ₹5,149.90.
This surge in interest in HAL shares is linked to new partnership agreements concerning the Prachand Light Combat Helicopter (LCH) heavy strike helicopter project. Hindustan Aeronautics Limited has partnered with Adani Defence Systems and Technologies (ADSTL) and Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML) for the production of LCH fuselage structures.
According to the report, under this agreement, BEML will manufacture 48 fuselage structures, while Adani Defence will take charge of producing 42 structures. This collaboration marks the first instance where a private company is involved in the production of helicopter fuselage structures.
These agreements will increase the participation of both public and private companies in the Prachand helicopter program and expand the network of local suppliers. Ravi K., Chairman and Managing Director of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, noted that this partnership is an important step towards strengthening the country's aerospace ecosystem.
He stated that such collaborations will help boost manufacturing capacity, strengthen the domestic supply chain, and stimulate India's indigenous aerospace manufacturing capabilities. Since the helicopter fuselage is a key structural component, increased involvement of local companies in its production can contribute to expanding the supply network and scaling up production.
This partnership was established while Hindustan Aeronautics Limited already held a large order from the Indian Armed Forces for the Prachand project. The Ministry of Defence signed two contracts with HAL on March 28, 2025, for the procurement of 156 Prachand Light Combat Helicopters.
These contracts, valued at approximately ₹62,700 crores, involve the manufacturing of 66 helicopters for the Indian Air Force and 90 helicopters for the Indian Army. This order is viewed as a significant opportunity for Hindustan Aeronautics Limited in the nation's defense and aerospace manufacturing sectors.
