Digvesh Rathi once again sparks controversy with his 'laptop celebration' after taking a wicket in the DPL 2026 match

The spinner for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), Digvesh Rathi, has once again become the center of attention due to his controversial 'laptop celebration'. During the Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2026 match between Old Delhi 6 and Outer Delhi Warriors, Digvesh repeated this celebration after dismissing Priyansha Arya, an act that previously resulted in a penalty in IPL 2025.

This time, the situation took on a special interest because instead of celebrating with his team, Digvesh approached Priyansha, who was heading to the dressing room, and performed his 'laptop celebration' near him. It now remains to be seen whether the DPL management will take any action regarding such behavior.

In the match held at the Arun Jaitley stadium, players from Outer Delhi Warriors, including opener Priyansha Arya and Yajas Sharma, actively attacked the bowlers of Old Delhi 6. Both players demonstrated aggressive play during the powerplay, helping the team reach a high score. When captain Anuj Rawat handed the ball to Digvesh, the score was 120 runs without loss.

Digvesh immediately tried to change the course of the game. He forced Priyansha to hit a big shot on his very first delivery, after which Rohan Rathi caught him on the long-on and ended his innings. After this, Digvesh approached Priyansha and performed his well-known laptop celebration.

There is a long history between Digvesh Rathi and Priyansha Arya related to this celebration. During IPL (Indian Premier League) 2025, Digvesh also approached the batsmen after dismissing them, performing the laptop celebration, and this happened against Priyansha. Due to these constant celebrations and approaching players upon dismissal, Digvesh faced disciplinary measures, including a fine and a one-match suspension.

After dismissing Priyansha, Digvesh did not stop. Two deliveries later, he also sent Yajas Sharma, who played very brightly, to the dressing room. Yajas scored 86 runs off 36 balls, including 10 fours and five sixes. Digvesh took two wickets in just one over, conceding only one run. He then dismissed Dhruv Singh, completing his spin spell with three wickets, conceding 25 runs in four overs. Despite this, Outer Delhi Warriors managed to score a substantial total of 219 runs for the loss of five wickets. Akshay Sani remained on the field without being out, scoring 49 runs off 23 balls, and Harsh Tyagi scored 32 runs off 15 balls.

Chasing a target of 220 runs, Old Delhi started strongly thanks to Aryan Gaud and Samart Seth. They scored 104 runs in 8.4 overs. Seth scored 42 runs off 24 balls, and Gaud scored 65 runs off 37 balls. However, the pace of the run chase slowed down due to consecutive wickets in the middle overs. Aman Choudhary and Harsh Tyagi took four and three wickets respectively. Old Delhi could only reach 198 runs, trailing Outer Delhi Warriors by 21 runs, and lost the match.
