Positive drug test results were found in two pilots from the Air India group. According to sources, these pilots' samples have been sent for further confirmation, and the final report is currently awaited.
Air India Group began mandatory testing for psychoactive substances for all its pilots on August 13. According to sources, approximately 300-400 pilots have undergone this check so far, and the process is ongoing.
So far, two pilots have shown a positive result on the drug test. Initial tests revealed signs of any substance or chemical marker, but this is not yet a final conclusion.
Further study of the samples is underway to determine whether the pilot consumed any psychoactive substance, similar to the case with the pilot on flight AI2379. The decision to test all pilots was made by the airline after a captain on the Phuket-Delhi route tested positive for marijuana.
This test involves two stages. First, an alcohol test is conducted using a breathalyzer, where the pilot exhales air, and the machine detects the presence of alcohol in the body. This is followed by drug testing. The goal of this stage is to find out if the pilot has used any drugs or psychoactive substances that could affect their ability to make decisions and maintain alertness during flight.
When testing a pilot, urine samples are taken. If signs of psychoactive substances are found in them, the result is considered positive. In such a case, the pilot is suspended from flying until the results are confirmed.
