During the meeting, the Deputy Minister of Planning and Economy of Iran's Ministry of Agriculture emphasized the need to develop bilateral cooperation in the area of light livestock imports and the utilization of Armenian pasture capacities. This meeting took place between representatives of both countries.
According to Mehr News Agency, Akbar Fati, Deputy Minister of Planning and Economy of Iran's Ministry of Agriculture, held talks with Georg Patoyan, Minister of Economy of the Republic of Armenia. The discussion took place during the seventh session of the Eurasian Economic Union's Council on Agricultural Policy in Almaty, Kazakhstan, and concerned ways to strengthen economic and agricultural interaction between the two states.
Within the framework of this meeting, existing opportunities for expanding bilateral cooperation in the agrarian and livestock sectors were analyzed. Both sides highlighted the importance of utilizing mutual potential to increase economic ties, develop product trade, and joint investments.
One of the key issues was studying the possibilities of importing light livestock from the Republic of Armenia. Existing mechanisms for developing cooperation in animal husbandry, ensuring necessary livestock, and creating appropriate channels for exchange were reviewed. At the same time, the requirement to adhere to sanitary and veterinary standards when implementing these measures was emphasized.
Furthermore, the parties discussed the possibility of joint investments in border areas, paying special attention to opportunities available at zero-border points. Both sides agreed on the need to define the economic and agrarian opportunities of border zones and prepare conditions for the participation of the private sector of both countries in joint projects. This can contribute to the development of production activities, an increase in trade turnover, and the strengthening of economic links between border territories.
Another area of negotiation was the development of cooperation in greenhouse cultivation. In this field, possibilities for investing in and developing greenhouse complexes, as well as exchanging experience and knowledge between the two countries, were considered. The use of Armenian pasture resources for developing cooperation related to animal husbandry and animal products was also discussed. The need for expert assessment of existing capacities and the development of executive mechanisms for sustainable and effective use of these resources was noted.
At the end of the meeting, both sides confirmed their intention to continue consultations and monitor the implementation of the raised issues. The goal of these actions is to develop agricultural trade, activate cooperation in animal husbandry, attract joint investments, develop greenhouses, and unlock the potential of border territories.
This meeting took place against the backdrop of the seventh session of the Eurasian Economic Union's Council on Agricultural Policy in Almaty. This aligns with the Islamic Republic of Iran's strategy for developing agricultural diplomacy, strengthening economic relations with member states of the Eurasian Economic Union, and utilizing common opportunities for the sustainable development of the agricultural sector.
