In the Gonda district of Uttar Pradesh, a cultural event was held at Knowledge Beam Academy to celebrate Independence Day. During this event, female students performed dances wearing burqas to various songs. A video recording of this performance was shared on social media, leading to controversy.
After the video went viral and caused public outcry, the school director, Ramkrishna Maurya, released a video message offering a public apology. He emphasized that all the participating students were Hindu, and their sole intention was entertainment, not insulting any community.
The entire incident took place in the Ausani Budhkar area, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Khondare police station, where the Independence Day celebration was enthusiastically held. As part of the celebration, a vibrant cultural performance also took place at Knowledge Beam Academy. The video of the students dancing in burqas was filmed and subsequently posted on social media, quickly becoming a subject of discussion.
In response to the viral spread of the video, Knowledge Beam Academy manager, Ramkrishna Maurya, published a video statement to clarify the situation. He stated that both he and the students aimed only for entertainment and did not intend to offend the feelings of any specific group. He also promised that such a mistake would never be repeated in the future.
In his video statement, Director Ramkrishna Maurya clarified that all the girls who danced in masks were Hindu, and there was no Muslim girl among them. He added that if the event caused pain to any Muslim or representative of another community, he was prepared to apologize countless times and millions of times for it.
