On Friday, August 14th, the Bollywood film market witnessed a competition between two major movies: 'Bantwara 1947' and 'Avarapan 2'. Both films belong to different genres and target different audiences. Before the release, this rivalry was assessed as even, but the situation changed as Imran consistently overtook Sunny's film.
The first weekend proved to be a breakthrough for Imran Hashmi's 'Avarapan 2', which significantly surpassed Sunny Deol's 'Bantwara 1947'. On the day of the premiere, Imran's film secured strong positions, collecting 22 crore rupees in net revenue. Meanwhile, Sunny's film showed collections in single-digit figures.
On Saturday, both films demonstrated significant revenue growth. 'Bantwara 1947' increased its income by over 150%. 'Avarapan 2' also showed good collections, reaching over 50 crore in net revenue over two days and proving its success.
However, Sunday was not as successful a day for Sunny Deol's film as the previous one. For the third day, revenue dropped by 46.3%. According to Sakencode, 'Bantwara 1947' collected only 7.25 crore rupees in net revenue, bringing the total collection to 26.50 crore rupees. The film did not gain as much advantage as on the second day. Furthermore, a decrease in the number of screenings was noted.
Despite fewer screenings, 'Avarapan 2' faced a similar issue, leading to a 23% drop in its earnings. On Sunday, Imran's film collected 26 crore rupees in net revenue, bringing the film's total collection to 81.75 crore rupees. The global gross reached 110 crore rupees. In total, over three days, 'Avarapan 2' became a big success, with a budget of around 50–55 crore rupees, while collecting almost twice that amount.
