The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) is being conducted in the capital city of Delhi and 16 other states, as well as in 3 central districts. The third phase of this SIR is currently underway, and deadlines in many regions are constantly being postponed. If the date is not extended again, Delhi residents must fill out and submit the Enumeration Form by August 17th.
Nevertheless, about twenty percent of people have not yet submitted the completed form, and many are filling it out incorrectly due to lack of information. In this regard, we spoke with BLO Nizam from Silampura, who discussed five typical errors that Delhi residents make when filling out the Enumeration Form.
Nizam noted that the first mistake is filling in fresh information. However, in this column, data should be provided according to the previous SIR. For example, if your name is Niraj, and in the previous SIR list it is listed as Niraj, you must use that exact spelling. The same applies to the spelling of relatives' names, which must match the data from the previous SIR list.
The second mistake relates to the legislative assembly number. Since boundary revision was conducted in Delhi in 2008, the boundaries and electoral constituency numbers have changed. Therefore, the electoral constituency number from the 2002 list may differ from the current one. Nevertheless, in this column, you must indicate the AC number corresponding to the 2002 list. For instance, Ghonda constituency had number 50 in 2002, whereas its current number is 65; in such a case, you must state the old number 50, not the current 65.
The third common error occurs in the relatives column. Some people enter their own name or their spouse's name instead of a relative's name. However, according to the Election Commission, only parents, grandparents, or great-grandparents/great-grandfathers can be listed as relatives. That is, in the NAME column, you must enter the name of one of these relatives that was registered in the Delhi SIR voter list of 2002 or in the last SIR in the state where your relatives resided.
The fourth mistake is that some people do not check the previous SIR list at all. Nizam illustrated this with an example: if Rambati married from Uttar Pradesh in Delhi, and the SIR is currently taking place in Delhi, she might have filled in her father's details from his passport without checking the last Uttar Pradesh SIR list from 2003. It is not enough to just look at the voter slip. If her father's name is not listed in the 2003 Uttar Pradesh SIR list, or if there is any slight discrepancy in the spelling, the information provided in the form may be considered incorrect. Therefore, before filling out the form, be sure to cross-reference the name and other details with the previous SIR voter list.
The fifth mistake concerns confusion between the Relative Name and Relationship columns. Suppose you entered your father's details in column 2, meaning you are linking yourself to your father. In this case, in Relative Name, you need to enter the name of the relative listed before your father's name in the previous SIR list. For example, if your father's name is Ram, and in the 2002 voter list, his father's name Kishan is listed before Ram's name, then the Relative Name will be your grandfather's name. And in Relationship, you must write 'father', because here the relationship between your grandfather and your father is asked. In this column, you must also indicate the electoral constituency number according to the old list, not the new one.
The last column, number three, is intended for entering your current information. Here, you are required to provide data corresponding to the present moment, not details from the old SIR.
After clearing up all misunderstandings, Nizam added that many people received the form but still haven't filled it out, or they filled it out but haven't submitted it. Filling out the form at home is not considered a completed action; it must be submitted to the BLO for the task to be done. Nizam also explained how to check whether the BLO has accepted your form. You need to go to the website voters.eci.gov.in, click 'Fill Enumeration form', select NCT of Delhi, enter your current EPIC number (Voter ID), and search. If the form was uploaded by the BLO online, it will say 'Form submitted/uploaded' in your records. If the status is not displayed, it is possible that the BLO has not yet uploaded the form, and in that case, you should contact the BLO to confirm the status.
