Consuming dried fruits is considered healthy because it can decrease the likelihood of developing hypertension, or high blood pressure. A study published in the British Journal of Nutrition found that regular consumption of dried fruits can lower the probability of developing high blood pressure by 20–30 percent.

In India, there is a rapid increase in cases of high blood pressure; 30% of people over 18 suffer from hypertension. According to the World Health Organization, about 200 million people in India live with high blood pressure, but only 10–12% of them control this condition. Experts attribute this disease to poor dietary habits and lifestyle deterioration and believe that dried fruits can help manage this condition.

Dried fruits and their components are considered beneficial for heart health. Multiple meta-analyses of randomized controlled trials have shown a reduction in blood pressure upon their consumption, although the results were not always identical, they are nevertheless recognized as highly beneficial.

Dr. Ajit Jain from the cardiology department of Rajiv Gandhi Hospital in Delhi notes that dried fruits are included in dietary plans to improve heart health in cases of high blood pressure.

In this study, researchers attempted to establish a link between dried fruit consumption and the risk of high blood pressure. The study included 143,380 people aged 18 to 87, of whom 20,665 had high blood pressure. It was found that people who ate dried fruits daily had a significantly lower risk of high blood pressure.

The study showed that consuming 28 grams of dried fruits daily reduces the risk of high blood pressure by 20 percent, while consuming 30–35 grams of nuts daily leads to a 26% reduction in the risk of the disease. These results align with data from meta-analyses indicating the benefits of nuts for blood pressure.

However, this work has some limitations, such as the assessment of nut consumption being conducted only once at the beginning, and no separate studies being conducted on different types of dried fruits. This did not allow for determining which specific type of dried fruit is most beneficial, but it was proven that they can reduce the risk of high blood pressure.

The study also indicated that people with any allergy to dried fruits should not consume them. Patients with stomach problems are also advised to consult a doctor.

Amid rumors of the death of former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran, information has emerged regarding his health condition. Imran Khan has shown a significant decrease in heart rate and an increase in blood pressure.

The 74-year-old Imran Khan has been in Adiala Jail in Pakistan for a long time. According to a medical report, on August 1st, his blood pressure was recorded as 140/100, and his pulse was only 50 beats per minute, which is significantly below normal.

He informed doctors that his mental stress and blood pressure fluctuations are caused by the prison administration not allowing him to meet his wife and other family members. This leads to a constant state of anxiety.

The medical documentation of the former prime minister mentions mental stress, blood pressure instability, and restrictions on communication with family. Doctors advised ensuring as many visits as possible, providing books for reading, and continuing medical care.

Imran Khan also complained that he is forbidden from reading newspapers and watching television in prison.

According to reports, medics insisted that Imran Khan be allowed to see his wife and relatives more often to reduce his stress levels. Furthermore, doctors recommended providing him with reading materials and books.

Imran Khan's wife is Bushra Bibi, who is his third wife. They married in February 2018. Bushra Bibi's birth name is Bushra Riaz Wattu, and she is considered a spiritual figure associated with the Sufi tradition.

The medical conclusion also states that Imran Khan has been prescribed anti-anxiety medication and additional medical examinations. Doctors expressed concern that prolonged stress at the age of 74 could lead to other health problems.

In Imran Khan's medical recommendation, questions also arose regarding the report submitted to the court by the head of Adiala Jail. The jail superintendent has repeatedly stated in the Islamabad High Court that Imran Khan is provided with all necessary amenities, including newspapers, television, and books inside the prison.

However, in a recent report submitted to the Supreme Court of Pakistan, the same jail superintendent mentioned the doctors' recommendations from August 1st and 10th. It stated the need to provide Imran Khan with newspapers, television, and books, as well as permission for more frequent meetings with his wife and family.

Against the backdrop of growing complaints about blood pressure fluctuations, headaches, worry, and anxiety, the government-formed Medical Council advised giving Imran Khan half a tablet before bed at 10 am and the remaining half at 8 pm.

Controversial businessman Vusimuzi Matlala appeared at the Madlanga commission hearings. He stated that he cannot call Medicare CEO Mike Van Wyk his friend.

Matlala noted that his relationship with Mike Van Wyk is the subject of litigation. He added: 'My relationship with Mike Van Wyk is the subject of a case pending in court.' He emphasized that he did not wish to incriminate himself, as Mike held the position of CEO of his company Medicare, which had a contract with SAPS. Therefore, Matlala exercised his right not to testify against himself.

Matlala, who is accused of corruption, was questioned about alleged connections with high-ranking police officials, including Mchunu, KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Nlanghlu Mkhwanazi, Deputy National Commissioner Shradack Sibiyu, and Crime Unit Head Major General Ferosa Khan.

Lead investigator Malape Sello also mentioned the suspended KwaZulu-Natal Hawks head Lesetdju Senono and organized crime senior officer Robert Sibiri. However, Matlala did not provide exhaustive answers regarding all the named officials.

On the matter of Mchunu, Matlala was unequivocal. He stated: 'I have no relationship with Minister Senzo Mchunu. I have never met Mchunu nor had any contact with him, nor attended any meetings where he was present.' When Sello asked him about attempting to offer Mchunu a gift, benefit, or temptation, Matlala denied it. He also rejected any suggestion that he sought favor from the minister or communicated with him through intermediaries.

These denials apparently distance Matlala from allegations related to businessman Brown Mogotosi, who is accused of trying to establish contact with Mchunu on his behalf. Furthermore, Matlala was questioned about his alleged connections with the suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police Ekurhuleni Metro Julius Mkhwanazi and other police officers.

The growing list of names intensifies questions about Matlala's alleged access to high-ranking law enforcement officials. Nevertheless, he explained that he intentionally omitted some names from his additional statement. Matlala clarified that he had reasons for this exclusion, citing recordings in which he allegedly claimed corrupt ties with high-ranking police officers. Matlala disputed certain points in these recordings. His refusal to elaborate leaves key questions open regarding the alleged police network at the center of the investigation. The investigation continues.
