In the age of social media, content creation has ceased to be just a hobby and is now viewed as a career path. In light of these changing trends, the renowned American university Arizona State University (ASU) has begun offering a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in content creation.
The university announced that the new content creation bachelor's program was launched through its Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication. Although the curriculum is similar to ASU's program in mass communication and media studies, it includes additional courses such as podcasting, studio production, and on-camera skills.
According to information posted on the official ASU website, the BA in Content Creation program requires a minimum of 120 credit hours within the 2026-27 academic plan. The program combines general university education with numerous practical and specialized courses related to content creation.
Regarding costs, the annual tuition for Arizona residents is approximately $12,000 USD, excluding scholarships, and the total cost, including housing and food, can exceed $37,000. For international students, tuition fees can exceed $35,000, with total expenses before scholarships reaching approximately $60,000.
Despite this program sometimes being called an 'influencer diploma' on social media, its official name is Bachelor of Arts in Content Creation. ASU presents this program not merely as training to become social media stars. The course covers skills such as multimedia storytelling, video production, podcasting, personal branding, social media strategy, and communication.
