This caramel popcorn, made from simple ingredients, takes only 20 minutes to prepare and turns out so crispy and delicious that you will never need to buy it from the store again. This simple recipe will be useful if you want to prepare this tasty snack for four people.
Recipe for Homemade Caramel Popcorn
First, you need to make crispy popcorn. In a deep pot, heat a little butter and margarine over medium heat. After the butter melts, add corn kernels and a little salt, stirring with a spoon. As soon as the kernels start popping, immediately cover the pot with a lid and reduce the heat. Soon, the fresh popcorn will be ready.
Next is making the perfect caramel. Pour sugar into a pan over low heat. It is important not to stir the sugar with a spoon; gently shaking the pan is enough for even melting. When the sugar has completely melted and turned golden (caramel color), add butter and baking soda, mixing thoroughly. Adding baking soda makes the caramel lighter and slightly frothy, which provides a crispy coating for the popcorn.
Coating and Finishing
After this, turn off the stove and immediately add the prepared popcorn to the caramel, stirring quickly and thoroughly so that every piece is coated with caramel. Then, spread the popcorn on a plate or baking sheet and let it cool. Once it cools, the popcorns will clump together, and they need to be carefully separated by hand. Thus, you get crispy and sweet caramel popcorn comparable to store-bought.
