The unique traditions of Iraqi chestnut craftsmanship, passed down through generations in Shakhrisabz for centuries, are once again making their appearance on the international stage. The ancient city is hosting the international festival 'Iraqi Chestnut Craftsmanship,' as well as the 'Polishing Silk Chestnuts' festival and a republican exhibition-competition.
These events, scheduled for August 13–15, gather about 100 artisans from all regions of Uzbekistan, along with 23 foreign craftsmen from Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Turkey, Turkmenistan, and Russia. This creates an important opportunity to showcase the Shakhrisabz chestnut craft school and samples of national applied art on a global level, as well as to exchange experience between various craft schools.
A distinctive feature of the festival is that chestnut craftsmanship here is presented not merely as an exhibition or traditional art, but as a key direction uniting national cultural heritage, tourism, female employment, and the creative economy.
On the initiative of the Women's Wing of the Council of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, 'UzLiDeP', events titled 'Farovon Hayot Sari' were organized in the residential complexes 'Telemarkaz' and 'Allaniyaz Qahramon' in the city of Nukus. These activities took place within the framework of the national party project 'Together with the People.'
Road safety is today not only the responsibility of law enforcement agencies but also an important function of the deputies' body and the public, as every tragedy on the road is a sorrow for a family, and every prevented disaster is a saved human life.
As part of the national program 'With the People' by O‘zLiDeP, a public hearing was held in the Syrdarya region, where issues and ways to solve problems in the field of road traffic and cadastre were discussed in detail, and important proposals were put forward in the interests of the population.
The hearings were attended by Senator, Chairman of the Syrdarya Regional Council of O‘zLiDeP, Pokiza Akhmedjanov; Deputy of the Laws Chamber of the Supreme Majlis, Gavhar Alimov; Head of the apparatus of the Party Regional Council, Deputy of the People's Council at the regional level, Shohista Bozorboev; as well as deputies of regional, district, and city councils and heads of responsible departments.
A report from the Public Security Department of the Internal Affairs Department of the Syrdarya region on the work done in the first half of 2026 was presented. It was noted that thanks to systematic preventive measures, the total number of road traffic accidents in the region decreased by 28.6%, and the number of accidents with injuries decreased by 42.6%. In addition, detailed information was provided on the work to improve road infrastructure, widespread implementation of digital technologies, vehicle registration in the state register, and the implementation of state programs.
It was also discussed that the State Cadastre Department of the Syrdarya region is engaged in registering real estate objects in the state register, legalizing cadastral documents, commissioning new facilities, and improving the quality of public services provided to the population.
The deputies voiced their comments and suggestions on some issues in this area, giving appropriate recommendations to the responsible persons. A number of practical proposals aimed at further strengthening road safety were put forward during the discussions. In particular, it was proposed to reduce the permitted speed on certain sections of the M-39 'Tashkent–Termiz' and A-373a 'Okhangaron–Guliston–Sardoba' highways from 100 km/h to 80 km/h.
According to the responsible persons, such measures contribute to reducing the number of road traffic accidents and increasing the safety of road users. Following the hearings, recommendations were given to the responsible organizations regarding the implementation of the expressed proposals. An agreement was also reached on regular monitoring of the implementation of the raised issues under the control of deputy oversight.
It is important to note that this public hearing, organized as part of the 'With the People' program, creates a basis for studying problems that concern the public, increasing the transparency and accountability of the activities of responsible departments, as well as strengthening the influence of deputy oversight from parliament and local Councils.
Yozovon, located in the central districts of the Fergana Valley, possesses a unique climate and geographical zone. Livestock farming is also developed among the sand dunes. Thanks to the picturesque landscapes in the region, there are more than ten ponds where famous carp is grown, which is in demand among consumers in neighboring provinces.
Initially, fishing could have been the driving force for the area, but the development of the industry was hindered by problems with feed supply.
The Chinese company 'HUALONG SILIAO' studied the needs and demand for aquaculture in Yozovon and built a plant that produces 30 thousand tons of feed annually, investing $10 million in it. The plant has already been commissioned and has started shipping its first products to local farms.
Company head Jasurbek Ikromjonov reported that they produce five types of products, which differ depending on the type and size of the fish. 80 tons of feed are prepared on each shift at the plant. The product includes flour, fish, chicken meat, soy, corn, rice, and millet.
Co-founder of 'HUALONG SILIAO', Joe Bing, noted that the produced feed has medicinal properties, helping to cleanse the fish of various parasites. Furthermore, this feed does not sink in the water, meaning that one hundred percent of the provided feed is consumed by the fish. Previously, the previous feeds decomposed in the water, and 15-20% settled before the fish could eat them.
The plant's products are continuously sent to customers. The unique characteristics of this feed attract aquaculture farmers and enterprises from remote provinces.
Jasurbek Ikromjonov added that currently, special vitamin, medicinal, and antibacterial feeds for fish, as well as feeds against various parasitic diseases, are being produced. The finished products are delivered to Samarkand, Khorezm, and Jizzakh. The main goal for next year is to start exporting products to foreign countries. The company is located in the Fergana region and is currently the only enterprise in Central Asia in this field.
