Alamat's recognition as a UNESCO World Heritage site opens opportunities for tourism and regional development

The Alamat region can become a key center for strengthening social cohesion, hope, tourism development, and local growth after being included in the UNESCO World Heritage List, stated a high-ranking official from the Ministry of Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Crafts.

Rouzbeh Kardoni, the ministry's chief advisor and general director of its ministerial office, made these statements during the first meeting of the Strategic Council for Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Crafts of Qazvin province, which took place in the provincial governor's office on Saturday.

The meeting gathered the Governor of Qazvin, Mohammad Nozari, local officials, senior ministry staff, members of the ministry's Strategic Council, as well as over forty scholars, experts, and activists in the fields of cultural heritage, tourism, and crafts.

The main focus of the meeting was on the possibilities for Alamat following its inclusion in the UNESCO World Heritage list. Participants emphasized the need to use the region's cultural assets as an incentive for developing tourism, the local economy, and national identity.

Kardoni noted that Alamat will provide an important opportunity to present the province, attract tourists, stimulate the economy, and promote local development, and will also become a source of pride for all Iranians. He added that the significance of Alamat cannot be viewed solely through the prism of its economic and tourism potential.

According to Kardoni, besides its role as an important tourism and economic asset, Alamat is capable of becoming a place for social unity and hope.

Kardoni linked the importance of cultural heritage to the need to strengthen social capital, asserting that heritage can serve as an important platform for achieving greater cohesion and unity during times when society needs it.

He also drew attention to the broader historical meaning of Iran's heritage, pointing out that Iranian history was not limited to defending territory and identity, but also reflected the country's traditions in science, craftsmanship, creativity, and daily life. Kardoni concluded that this heritage can inspire and guide people today.

Furthermore, Kardoni mentioned the participation of Hadi Haniki, a scholar and expert in communications and social issues, who was invited to consult on transforming the province's heritage potential into an effective social discourse.

The meeting continued with presentations of views, proposals, and challenges from representatives of officials, academics, and sectoral activists. Organizers reported that the session aims to lay the foundation for a permanent mechanism of expert consultation and the development of strategies for the sectors of cultural heritage, tourism, and crafts in Qazvin.
