The two-wheeler transport market in India is showing steady growth in scooter market share, supported by the popularity of electric vehicles. In July 2026, the total number of scooters sold approached the eight hundred thousand mark. Across all companies, 798,190 scooters were sold during this month, nearly reaching the 800,000 threshold.
Year-on-year growth in the segment stood at 24 percent compared to the previous year, when 645,022 scooters were sold in July. There has been a significant shift in the sales leader rankings, as Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India previously dominated. However, in July 2026, TVS surpassed Honda.
TVS Motor Company became the leader in scooter sales, showing a 40 percent increase. In July 2026, the company sold 256,675 scooters, benefiting from the demand for electric models. Meanwhile, Honda sold 233,337 scooters, representing a 12 percent decline in sales.
July 2026 was the second-largest month for the scooter market in India. The previous record month was October 2025, when 824,003 scooters were delivered. July marked the sixth month of the year where scooter sales exceeded seven hundred thousand; only April of this year saw sales below that figure.
Besides TVS and Honda, Suzuki holds the third position in the market. In July, Suzuki Motorcycle India sold 120,000 scooters. Hero MotoCorp ranked fourth with sales of 61,347 scooters, and Bajaj Auto was fifth, delivering 48,684 scooters. Notably, Bajaj's portfolio consists exclusively of electric scooters.
Regarding the sales leader, TVS, it should be noted that its range includes both internal combustion engine (ICE) scooters and electric models. In the ICE segment, the brand offered Jupiter, NTORQ, and Jet, which sold 197,289 units in July. As for electric models, such as iQube and Orbiter, they were sold in quantity 59,386 in July.
