The parties discussed opportunities to deepen interaction in the field of biopharmaceuticals, localize high-tech production, and launch new investment projects, according to the Agency for Pharmaceutical Industry Development of Uzbekistan.
Particular attention during the meeting was paid to the prospects of organizing the production of insulin and its analogues, as well as vaccines against human papillomavirus (HPV) directly in Uzbekistan. Furthermore, participants reviewed the potential for implementing modern technologies and establishing joint ventures in the pharmaceutical industry.
The Malaysian side was provided with information about the possibilities of the BioPharma City pharmaceutical cluster, its production and research infrastructure, and the conditions created to attract investors.
During the negotiations, information about existing tax and customs benefits for investors was also presented. These conditions are being considered in the context of further developing high-tech biopharmaceutical production in Uzbekistan.
At the conclusion of the discussions, the parties defined areas for further partnership concerning production localization, implementation of advanced technologies, and execution of investment projects. The realization of these initiatives is intended to support the growth of high-tech biopharmaceutical production in Uzbekistan, increase the range of import-substituting goods, and strengthen international investment cooperation.
The Center for Pharmaceutical Product Safety of Uzbekistan held discussions on regulatory interaction issues in the pharmaceutical sector between Uzbekistan and Saudi Arabia. Aspects such as drug registration and certification were discussed.
As part of the meeting, the Center for Pharmaceutical Product Safety gathered representatives from pharmaceutical companies from Saudi Arabia and India. The parties examined in detail procedures related to the circulation of medicines in Uzbekistan, including state registration, recognition procedure registration, certification, documentation submission, and expert evaluation.
Center specialists provided foreign companies with information about the current state registration procedure for medicines in Uzbekistan. For their part, representatives from Saudi Arabia stated their readiness to support further cooperation between the Center for Pharmaceutical Product Safety and the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA).
Participants emphasized the significance of SFDA's experience for improving the Center's activities in accordance with international standards. This includes work aimed at achieving the WHO's ML3 maturity level in the future. At the end of the meeting, the parties agreed to continue practical interaction, exchange experiences, and discuss emerging issues through working-level contacts.
During the working visit of the Director of the Pharmaceutical Industry Development Agency, Abdulla Azizov, to India, Uzbekistan and India discussed opportunities to deepen interaction in the field of pharmaceuticals.
The meeting took place with India's Minister of Trade and Industry, Piyush Goyal, as part of the Uzbek delegation led by the Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade, Laziz Kudratov.
The parties reviewed issues of further development of trade, economic, and investment cooperation, as well as increasing bilateral trade turnover, expanding industrial partnership, and supporting joint investment projects.
The negotiators paid special attention to interaction in the pharmaceutical field. They discussed prospects for joint production of medicines and medical devices, technology transfer, scientific research, implementation of innovative developments, and realization of high value-added projects.
At the end of the meeting, the parties reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and India, expanding business contacts, and continuing joint work on promising projects.
Oibek Zufarov, Chairman of the Association of Vegetable Oil Producers of the Republic of Uzbekistan (APVO), held a meeting with Rafeda Abd Aziz, the new Malaysian Ambassador to Uzbekistan.
The meeting also took place in the presence of Alexey Udovenko, Regional Director of the Malaysian Palm Oil Council (MPOC). The parties discussed the potential for concluding a free trade agreement between Uzbekistan and Malaysia, as well as issues regarding import duties on palm oil.
Furthermore, the participants reviewed opportunities for further increasing trade turnover and deepening economic cooperation. At the conclusion of the negotiations, all attendees confirmed their interest in strengthening bilateral ties and developing trade relations between the two countries.
