A representative of the Customs Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan in China, K. Kadirov, visited Kashgar in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region to familiarize himself with the operation of customs, logistics, and cross-border trade infrastructure.
During the visit, particular attention was paid to the Kashgar Comprehensive Customs Zone and the opportunities for promoting Uzbek products in the regional market. This zone plays a significant role in the city's external trade and logistics system in the western direction.
The zone provides conditions for storing goods under customs control, conducting logistics operations, processing, international trade, and cross-border e-commerce. The zone has production and warehouse facilities covering an area of about 500,000 square meters, where more than 670 enterprises operate.
In addition to trade and logistics activities, export-oriented production, including electronics assembly, and the processing of food and textile products are developing here. At the Kashgar Customs, 38 employees are involved in customs declarations, including operations related to border customs points.
Services related to the 'Single Window' system were also organized at one location, jointly with representatives of the comprehensive customs zone and the logistics sector. The infrastructure for cross-border e-commerce was also studied, specifically the processes of receiving, identifying, sorting, temporary storage, and preparing goods for export.
Special attention was given to the Kashgar Cross-border E-commerce Import and Export Exhibition and Trade Center. Foreign goods are displayed and stored in the center with the option of 'view offline, order online'. Currently, over 3000 types of goods are represented here.
The representative of the Customs Committee also inspected the exhibition of Uzbek products. Opportunities for placing and storing Uzbek goods in Kashgar, as well as their sale through traditional trade channels and the use of cross-border e-commerce, were discussed.
The delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan took part in a meeting of customs service experts from CIS member states, which was held in Moscow on August 11–12, 2026.
This meeting was dedicated to preparing for the 83rd session of the Council of Heads of Customs Services of CIS member states, which is scheduled for the second half of 2026 in the Republic of Belarus.
In addition to representatives from Uzbekistan, specialists from the customs services of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, and Tajikistan, as well as representatives of the CIS Executive Committee, participated in the event.
During the meeting, the Uzbek delegation, together with representatives from other countries, exchanged experiences and practical developments in the field of customs administration, including issues related to the development of cross-border e-commerce.
One of the central topics of discussion was the creation of a mechanism for registering and identifying participants in foreign economic activities, taking into account international experience. Participants also discussed the classification of certain goods according to the unified commodity nomenclature of foreign economic activity of the CIS, as well as the introduction of a Memorandum of Understanding between the customs services of the CIS on simplifying transit transport.
Uzbekistan's participation in this format contributes to the further development of practical cooperation with the customs services of CIS countries, the improvement of customs administration mechanisms, and the exchange of experience against the backdrop of rapid growth in foreign trade and e-commerce.
Participants paid special attention to issues related to the 35th anniversary of the Commonwealth of Independent States. Furthermore, a draft Work Plan of the Council of Heads of Customs Services of CIS member states for 2027 was presented to the experts.
After the meeting concluded, participants exchanged views and practical proposals that will be taken into account during the further preparation for the 83rd session of the Council of Heads of Customs Services of CIS member states.
